Please join me as we celebrate and recognize the Governor Teacher of the Year Award recipients. This honor acknowledges educators' outstanding classroom performance, collaborative initiatives, educational outreach, leadership, and significant impact on the school and community. As a Superintendent, it is with great pride and honor that I recognize these compassionate, accomplished, and devoted teachers who represent the Bellmawr School District. These teachers reflect the exemplary quality of educational leadership and support every student's social/emotional needs. A formal recognition ceremony will be held at our Board of Education meeting in the spring. Congratulations again! Bell Oaks' Pride Club is so excited to be participating in a pen pal program this year! They were paired with a GSA all the way in Minnesota. The students will be communicating throughout the year to their pen pals the old fashioned way...by writing letters! We can't wait to make connections and learn about others.

Bellmawr Park has been collecting socks all month for Socktober! Their goal was 600 pairs of new socks to help those in need this winter season. The students brought in over 1,000 pairs of socks!!! We are blown away by the generosity of our Bellmawr families. Since Bellmawr Park reached their goal, Mrs. Heller celebrated by dressing like a Silly Sock Lady today!

THANK YOU to our small group of parents, teachers, and administrators that participated in last week’s DEI (diversity, equity & inclusion) Committee Meeting! Although this work can be challenging since we all bring different perspectives to the table, I can’t think of anything more important to support our diverse community. The goal for our meeting was to engage in book talks surrounding our Elementary Inclusive Lending Library, specifically focusing on the state standards for reading and to evaluate text complexity (or simply put, the narrative’s ability to foster deep learning at a particular grade band). I can’t begin to say how WONDERFUL it was to see everyone unpack these texts together and to engage in meaningful conversation about the illustrations & vocabulary, and about text features such as genre or author’s purpose.
